I took the chance to be at London Fashion Week again this year with Canon CPS, the showcase venue typically held at the stunning Somerset House, how the organizers manage to transform this stunning 1550’s building into what they do for Fashion Week in sense of the catwalk and numerous outlets is incredible. At the final weekend there was a ‘trends’ show incorporating a number of designers pieces which was excellent though somewhat eclipsed by Julien Macdonald’s Saturday evening show.
Being involved in one of these shoots really is something else, the waiting seems to last an eternity before the noise and lights, elbows from the other photogs, the looks, glamour & the timing of the steps. Apparently Macdonald was inspired by the color and nightlife of Marrakesh when putting together his Spring/Summer 2014 collection, having visited the city for a friend’s 40th birthday. The designer said silks, satin and crystals were at the heart of his collection, which he insisted was “for everybody”, adding: “I celebrate women”.
